As a key member of the Planning and Operations leadership team of the 2021 Canada Games in the Niagara Region, the Manager, Venues and Overlay, is the senior staff person responsible for managing the operation and fit-out of approximately 20 competition and non-competition Games venues.
Working closely with the Director, the successful candidate will manage a lean, elite team working tirelessly to bring the nation’s premiere multi-sport sporting event to life as a dynamic, innovative experience for young athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators alike. Being an experienced and thoroughly collaborative leader, this person will be the key liaison with approximately 20 venues across the Niagara Region, while also providing coordination, integration, development, and support to the other major functional areas. This individual will also act as a support and mentor to enthusiastic full-time Games staff sourced largely from the Niagara Region, as well as dynamic co-op and experiential learning program students.
Planning for the 2021 Canada Games is the shared responsibility of Games staff and nearly 400 Lead Volunteers, who will begin their important roles with the team in August 2019. By Games-time, this team will be a confident and unified machine executing the operational plans they’ve developed over two years, with the support of 4000+ Games-time volunteers. Building this part of the team, supporting them, and ensuring their success is a key aspect of the role of Manager, Venues and Overlay.
