Manager, Finance - Canadian Paralympic Committee

JOB PURPOSE

The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is seeking an organized, dynamic and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Manager, Finance. The successful individual will provide leadership in the area of financial management and oversight for The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada (PFC).  

Working closely with the Executive Director, Corporate Services, the Manager, Finance is responsible for financial management, reporting and analysis. The individual contributes to implementing systems and processes for effective financial management, oversight and compliance, including day to day financial processing and financial reporting requirements with funding partners ensuring fiscally sound financial controls. The Manager, Finance leads games planning and preparation from a financial management perspective.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Management and Oversight:

- Financial oversight and management for two organizations:

Canadian Paralympic Committee
Paralympic Foundation of Canada  

- Prepares monthly financial reports
- Coordinates month end closing process
- Analyzes monthly financial reports
- Develops financial strategies to advance program objectives
- Leads and implements financial processes encompassing: A/P, A/R, G/L, Banking, Capital Assets, Inventory          management, Contract management
- Manages cashflow
- Manages all external financial audits
- Manages Financial Accounting Software and other financial applications
- Identifies and recommends improvements for financial internal controls and processes
- Prepares and implements financial strategies, processes and systems that support the successful execution      of Paralympic/Parapan American games  

Reporting & Budget Management:

- Leads financial accountability with grant(s) compliance and reporting
- Prepares compliance reports to funders using the appropriate guidelines, as required
- Manages government remittances (HST, etc)
- Supports the annual budget process
- Manages and advises on financial forecasting
- Ensure compliance with government regulations

Committee Management:

- Prepares packages for Finance and Audit Committee meetings
- Communicate effectively and present financial information to the Finance and Audit Committee
- Reviews and recommends changes to financial policies and procedures
- other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

- University diploma in the field of Finance/Accounting
- Charter Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or in the final stages of completing their CPA designation is required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Business writing and verbal communication skills, preferably in both official languages
- Demonstrated attention to detail and performing work with accuracy
- Knowledge of all administrative aspects of financial management
- Knowledge of Business Central (Office 365 platform) and Sage 50
- Knowledge of other databases and customer relations management software

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of five years’ progressive experience in financial management and analysis preferably in the Not-for-Profit or charity sector
- Minimum of one-year experience supervising and mentoring staff

WORKING/OTHER CONDITIONS

- Work is primarily in an office environment
- Overnight travel (domestic and internationally) required (eg, AGM, Summit, Special Events, Games, etc)
- Will be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods, including: Audit, Budget, etc
- Must hold a valid passport at all times
