Sports Information Officer - Centennial College

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Athletics and Recreation, Centennial College is immediately hiring for a collaborative and organized Sports Information Officer to produce, present, distribute, collect, archive and promote information pertaining to Centennial Athletics teams, clubs, and Campus Recreation participation. The Sports Information Officer will collaborate with Marketing, Communications and community partners to promote and support college-wide athletic and recreation activities to our students and communities while aligned with Centennial’s annual Sports Marketing Plan. As the Centennial Representative on provincial sports committees, the incumbent will be responsible for hiring subcontractor staff, live streaming games, and reporting on timely game statistics. In addition, this role will have annual budget accountability, as well as the supervisory responsibility of work-study students and part-time staff.
 Responsible for the annual development and delivery of a Sports Marketing Plan to promote and support College-wide athletic/recreational activities planned for the College community
 Develops and maintain the Sports Marketing budget
 Develops and implements a communication/promotion strategy to maximize student and staff attendance at intercollegiate games to support Centennial teams
 Coordinates, edits, updates and manages the daily content of the Athletics & Recreation Department Website and social media page(s)
 Manages the COLTS brand in regards to image and logo procedures and policies around its usage
 Partners with members of Athletics and Recreation Department team in the development and implementation of events
 Writes departmental updates on a weekly basis of stories related to student and program successes and prepare weekly program highlights including any athlete/team/coach accomplishments
 Coordinates and distributes all department hard copy and web site communication and promotions
 Plan and implement strategies within College policy to secure sponsors and organize fundraising events in support of academic athletic awards
 Develops championship programs and produce promotional material in collaboration with internal Marketing and Communications teams Represent Centennial on the provincial college sports marketing committee (OCAA) and sports information committee (OCSIDA).
 Acts as liaison with multiple internal and external stakeholders including local and national media, OCAA and CCAA Admin office, professional and amateur sports organizations and the general public regarding Centennial sport information
 Takes a lead role in organizing and hosting events (e.g. COLTS Induction Hall of Fame ceremony, annual Centennial Homecoming weekend), and scheduling varsity alumni games and team social with the Alumni Association.
 Three (3) year diploma or degree in: Sports Management, Web, Marketing, Communications and Journalism, Social Media, Graphic and Digital Design, Videography or equivalent
 Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Sports Marketing using computer graphic design and web site design software, creative writing, and skill producing a broad range of print material
 Demonstrated experience with web site design and management
 Able to capture photos and video for social media purposes with the ability to manipulate photos and video for online/print distribution or production
 Knowledge of Web Content Management systems and reporting databases
 Knowledge of Graphic Design and Multimedia Video Editing software
 Understanding of social media and new marketing trends
 Proven interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills; ability to communicate with a diverse student population
 Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills
 Experience coordinating and hosting sports tournaments and/or recreational events an asset
 Able to work evenings/weekends and varying shifts as required
 Access to a vehicle, valid Ontario G2 driver’s license required
 Experience and understanding working in a diverse student population
