TRAFIGURA CONFIRMS COMMITMENT TO RC THROUGH 2011
Trafigura has agreed to terms with Rugby Canada on renewing the sponsorship relationship that sees the company continue their support of the program as “Official Sponsor of the National Senior Men’s Team” and the “Exclusive On Field NSMT Jersey Sponsor”.
“Coming out of 2009 which has been an extremely challenging year in terms of the global economy, we are very fortunate to be in this position at the start of 2010 with our partners behind us not just for another year, but to see us through to the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand,” said Nick Taylor, Commercial Director with Rugby Canada.
Trafigura is a global oil and metals commodities trading firm, with a Canadian office located in Calgary AB. The company first became involved as a sponsor of the National Senior Men’s Team during the 2008 Churchill Cup tournament, then with the unprecedented Fall Tour of Europe in 2008 and the entire 2009 season. The company was also a sponsor of the 2009 Lions Tour, identified as a sponsorship candidate largely due to the exposure that they received through the branding partnership with Rugby Canada.
Andy Summers from Trafigura said: “Our relationship with Rugby Canada has grown from very humble beginnings, and we are very pleased to continue the relationship following their 2009 campaign which saw them move up the world rankings and record more significant results against top nations such as Ireland and Wales. We continue to hope that our support will enable the National Men’s Team to flourish and achieve their goals to reach the plateau of being a top 10 team in the IRB world rankings.”
Rugby Canada is extremely pleased to announce this renewed partnership with Trafigura for support of the Canadian team through the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
