The CFL combine took place last month, the NFL’s is just around the corner, and your chance to outshine all those pros falls on May 12th. On that momentous day it’s your turn to find out what it feels like to participate and get a first-hand perspective of football’s biggest off-season challenge. Winnipeg’s local media and celebrities are invited to team up and square off against each other in a mini-combine; to go through some of the fundamental testing the pros do, and gain a better perspective of what it’s like off the sidelines and in the game.

Cast your memories back to last year. You got up, and nothing got you down. You had it tough, we saw the toughest around. Some of you reached new heights in the vertical jump; some of you really nailed the standing part of the broad jump. Through the moments of blazing speed, marginal athleticism, a complete and total lack of competitiveness –it was clear all of you had a lot of fun showing Doug and the guys they are made of tough stuff, and sweat, lots and lots of sweat.

Participants will compete in the 40-yard dash, broad & vertical jump stations, long snapping & kicking, lateral movement tests, and an obstacle course.

Returnees – while you may not have got the call saying you’ve been drafted, you ain’t the worst we’ve seen. Newbies – you might as well jump. Go ahead and jump. And kick…and run. Time to sign up! RSVP to Christine: kswinnipeg@sportmanitoba.ca

Following the challenge the 9th Annual Doug Brown KidSport Winnipeg football camp will take place where Doug and the other players will take approximately 100 kids through a combine and a number of position-specific fundamental drills and exercises. The camp is open to kids who received funding in 2017 from KidSport in order to play football and is supported by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, KB2, Boston Pizza, Save on Foods, and KidSport Winnipeg.

Media are invited to stay for the camp. Players and kids will be available for interview.
