SPORT CALGARY ANNOUNCES ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS
October 12, 2017
Sport Calgary - CALGARY, Alberta — Sport Calgary today announced the winners of its Ron Southern Business and Sport Award, as well as its Sport Leadership Award.
“On behalf of Sport Calgary, I extend my congratulations to this year’s winners,” said Murray Sigler, Sport Calgary CEO. “Sport is important because it brings us closer together and unites us, not divides us. Calgary’s rich history of sport is supported and strengthened through the contributions of organizations like Shaw Communications, Corus Entertainment, and Respect Group.”
Shaw Communications and Corus Entertainment are the winners of the Ron Southern Business and Sport Award. The award recognizes and celebrates a business that provides outstanding and innovative support to sport in Calgary.

Through events like the Shaw Charity Classic and work with charitable partners like KidSport, Shaw Communications helps ensure that athletes and fans have the best opportunity to participate in sports. Its vision is to eliminate bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination by inspiring a global culture of respect. Through its work with partners like Hockey Calgary, Respect Group is changing the culture of sport for the better.
