Ringette Canada – WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – September 29, 2016 – The National Ringette League (NRL) has a new franchise competing in its Western Division this season and today it announced its team name and corporate sponsors. Manitoba Intact will hit the ice in October and will see the return of elite level ringette in the province, which hasn’t had a team since the 2012-2013 season.

Local business owners Debra and Curtis Wyatt of Wyatt Dowling Insurance whose company together with Intact Insurance and the Insurance Brokers’ Association of Manitoba have teamed to provide a funding platform to ensure that the NRL in Manitoba has a solid foundation for a long future in the province.

“We’re very pleased to enter this relationship in support of these young women as leaders in their community. Every member of this team is a coach or instructor of the next round of female athletes in the sport,” said Intact Insurance’s Regional Vice President, Albert Pol. “It means we are able to support these women in their pursuit of sport, education and careers while they continue to be role models to our youth.”

“In past years, girls in our province have always looked up to the NRL players and aspired to reach that level of play, but for the last three years we have been without a team,” said Rob Walker, general manager and coach of the team. “On behalf of the entire Manitoba Intact team, I would like to thank our naming sponsor – Intact Insurance together with Wyatt Dowling and the Insurance Brokers of Manitoba, for the financial support that will make a huge difference in the development of our athletes and the sport in Manitoba.”

“There is an enormous talent pool in Manitoba and we are pleased to see the league return to the province,” said Frances Losier, Director of High Performance and Events with Ringette Canada. “Having a team back in Manitoba will give athletes a high-level ringette program to aspire to and compete in.”
