Canada Soccer – Canada Soccer wishes to extend its thanks to the more than 200,000 Canadian soccer coaches who’ve taken the time and effort to complete coaching education in partnership with our provincial and territorial member association and the Coaching Association of Canada. Join with us in celebrating National Coaches Week by saying #ThanksCoach to someone who’s made an impact on you through the game.

“National Coaches Week gives us all a chance to celebrate these coaches and to thank them for their tireless efforts,” said Canada Soccer Director of Development Jason deVos “From grassroots soccer to our National Teams, the role of the coach is paramount.”

Across the country, men and women inspire generations of Canadians to fall in love with the game by taking their time to help develop not only soccer players, but excellent citizens.

“Soccer coaches from coast to coast play a vital role in the development of the game in Canada. Their hard work and dedication provides opportunities for players young and old to experience the beautiful game in a positive way,” said deVos “It is our responsibility to ensure that these coaches continue to gain access to educational opportunities that will help improve their knowledge of the game and how to teach their players.”

As the governing body for soccer in, Canada Soccer is responsible for training coaches from the grassroots to national team levels. With the increasing number of players registering with clubs across the country this represents a considerable challenge. In order to meet this challenge the Association has developed the Canada Soccer Pathway (LTPD) and tailored the Coach Education Program to this model, in partnership with our provincial and territorial member associations.

In addition, Canada Soccer publishes resources to help educate coaches on player development. Most recently, the Canada Soccer Medical Committee has provided their expertise to the Canada Soccer Concussion Guidelines, Players’ Health and Safety First.
