A member of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network and with its own strong network of eight regional multi-sport training centres, 11 single-sport training centres and its Complex at Olympic Park, which is home to nine high-performance training groups, the Institute offers sports medicine, sports science and personal development services to more than 500 high-performance athletes, 2,000 next-generation athletes and the nearly 900 coaches who train them.

Title: Internship to develop a database to monitor high-performance athlete performance

Description:

The intern will primarily participate in the creation and management of a database to monitor the performance of high-performance athletes and create a user-friendly environment that provides easy efficient access to data collected from elite boxers. The interface must allow users to perform simple or more complex searches that result in a report that makes it easier to consult and interpret metrics. The intern will be mentored by a sports biomechanist and other members of the Institute’ staff, as well as by specialists from the Boxing Canada training group.

Tasks:

  • Develop and manage a database
  • Program a user-friendly interface
  • Create information reports

Requirements:

  • Student in the third year of B.Sc. or in M.Sc. In the fields of health sciences, information technology, management or engineering
  • Ability to use various technologies with ease
  • Ability to design and manage databases
  • Programming skills to process big data (SQL, Access, Matlab, R or equivalent)
  • Asset: experience with a business program (Qlikesens, Microsoft Power Bi or other)

Duration: 12 weeks

 

Hours of work: Minimum of 14 h/week

Compensation: Nil
