Club Technical Coach

 

Due to the continued growth and success of Ottawa South United, the premier soccer club in Eastern Ontario we are currently seeking applications for the role of Club Technical Coach. The role would involve serving as a technical coach for primarily ages 13-17. The individual would also work in association with other technical staff under the guidance of the club Technical Director in delivering age- specific content in keeping with the OSU Philosophy. This individual should be highly motivated and have ambitions to continue their own personal development in achieving licenses within the Canadian Soccer Association system as well as other opportunities provided by OSU. The greater role would include the delivery of sessions across U9-U17 ages, so candidates should be comfortable delivering to both genders and these ages.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level training for Force Academy teams

  • Utilize coaching resources and software to help plan and manage training sessions and game-play

  • Report progress and results to Technical Director at weekly meeting

  • Establish yearly plan for team and age range

  • Conduct match preparation meetings and analysis with team

  • Assist and facilitate coaching education for mentor coaches

  • Provide additional technical training for teams within their primary age group

  • Be available for additional training programs offered by the club such as camps, Centre of Excellence and additional programming

  • Provide detailed player assessments

Competencies & Skills Required

  • Minimum National B Coaching License or International equivalent

  • Experience as a coach and/or player working with elite athletes

  • Detailed understanding of the development phases of youth players and optimal training and performance practices

  • Understanding of Ontario Player Development League practices and standards (or similar i.e. USSF Academy / E.P.P.P)

  • Desire to continue to improve licenses and education in the game

  • Knowledge of and support for the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development (LTPD) model and Wellness To World Cup framework.

  • Ability to act, implement and follow OSU Club Philosophies

  • Knowledge of elite player development systems

  • Experience working within a technical staff

  • Experience with and a passion for personal education and development

  • A team player

  • An understanding of the structure of competitive youth soccer and how it relates to optimal player development.

  • Knowledge of the Canadian soccer landscape

  • An ability to think and plan strategically

  • Strong communications skills and an ability to convey messages to parents, players and club staff

Remuneration and Position Length

This position will carry an annual salary range, which is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Applicants must submit the following:
